Volunteer roles

We encourage all our members to volunteer. Although it is not required, volunteering is fun, rewarding and helps keep the club strong. There are many different ways to help out. For information on volunteer opportunities, please reach out to the <executives>.

These are some of the ways volunteers help the club.

Lead an evening ride Using a combination of regular bike maps, google and personal experience lay out a route that is an appropriate for the duration and type of riders. The leader also makes reservations for the post ride venue.  A few hours of your time to scout a new or check an existing route with your assistant. 2-3 hours to run the ride – See Ride leader guide for more info.
Lead a day ride Using a combination of regular bike maps, google and personal experience lay out routes that are appropriate for the duration and a variety of rider levels. All weekend rides must follow a preprinted map.   A day or half day to scout a new route or check an existing route with your assistant. A day to run the ride. – see the Ride leader guide for details.
Co-lead a ride Most rides should have an co-lead to backup the leader and help riders along the route if needed. The co-lead may act as sweep on rides, should have a map, and be knowledgeable of the route and be able to contact the leader if needed.  A few hours of your time to help with the ride and depending on your knowledge of the route a short meeting in advance of the ride with the lead.  Ideally a sweep should also have some basic bike maintenance skills.
Assist at a social event  Greet people upon entry and verify registrations. Help with the setup/takedown of decorations, Help make newcomers feel welcome by introducing them to other club members.  A few hours of your time before and/or on the night of the event.  Under direction of the Social coordinator.
